Meet Our Music Therapist
Maria Ramey holds a Master of Science degree in Music Therapy from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from California State University Northridge. She has completed additional music therapy certification in memory care, special education, disorders of consciousness, and early childhood music. Maria is authorized to administer the MATADOC assessment for individuals with disorders of conciousness, the SEMTAP for Individualized Education Program (IEP) services, and the IMCAP-ND for neurovelopmental disorders.
Before entering into private practice, Maria established a music therapy program for a residential psychiatric hospital and provided music therapy for adults with developmental disabilities through a day program focused on the arts. It was there she was inspired to write her first book, Group Music Activities for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. She has been recognized as a Past President’s Scholar and presented for American Music Therapy Association and Western Regional AMTA conferences.
Maria’s therapeutic approach is Humanistic and Integrative. She has been privileged to work with individuals and groups in music therapy since 2010.
